Philanthropy

The application period for philanthropies is now open!  Applications must be received by March 31, 2026 (no exceptions) to be considered.

Every year, the San Diego Chinese Women’s Association awards funding to organizations in greater San Diego that promote public awareness, understanding, and appreciation of the Chinese culture, provide relief and services to the Chinese community in particular, and a variety of community projects as the membership decides.

Philanthropy awards are given twice a year, in December and in June:

1. Holiday donations to organizations, charities, and/or families in need are awarded in December. Our 2024 holiday fundraising efforts surpassed our fundraising goals and successfully provided for 8 families identified for us through the Union of Pan Asian Communities (UPAC), Social Advocates for Youth SD (SAY SD), and Serving Seniors. These funds helped the families navigate their daily living issues and enjoy a brighter holiday than anticipated.

2. Philanthropy awards, highlighting transformative projects, are awarded in June. Award amounts vary, depending on the availability of funding and the number of recipients. In 2025, we awarded $23,000 to 17 organizations.

In recent years, we have been privileged to support exceptional organizations such as: Alliance of Chinese Americans San Diego (ACA), Asian Culture & Media Alliance, San Diego Alliance for APIA, Asian Story TheaterBayside Community CenterBe Well TherapyElizabeth HospiceFriends of READ San Diego Literacy Program, Foundation  of Women Warriors, House of ChinaJust in Time for Foster Youth, Native Finance Development Corp, Olivewood Gardens (ICF Ctr for Cross Border Philanthropy), Pacific Arts Movement, San Diego Chinese Art & Cultural Society, Social Advocates for Youth SD (SAY SD), Serving Seniors, Storytellers of San Diego , TEAM Survivor San Diego, Tremble Clefs, Union of Pan Asian Communities, and Yamane Taiko.

Through these partnerships, we’ve sponsored a diverse range of programs including literacy initiatives, cross-cultural awareness projects, community engagement programs, dragon boat racing, youth empowerment endeavors, artistic pursuits, environmental stewardship, compassionate end-of-life care, Parkinson’s disease support, and advocacy for marginalized groups.

We stand united with these organizations, championing civility, diversity, inclusivity, and equality within our community while strongly opposing discrimination.
