The application period for philanthropies is closed. Please check back again in January 2022.
Every year, the San Diego Chinese Women’s Association awards funding to organizations in greater San Diego that promote public awareness, understanding, and appreciation of the Chinese culture, and/or provide relief and services to the Chinese community in particular and to other groups as the membership decides.
Philanthropy awards are given twice a year, in December and in June:
1. Holiday donations to organizations, charities, and/or families in need are awarded in December. Our 2020 holiday fundraising efforts took on a new direction as called for during the pandemic. Using creativity and innovative thinking, SDCWA members surpassed our normal holiday luncheon fundraising goals and successfully provided for 6 families identified for us through the Union of Pan Asian Communities (UPAC). These funds helped the families navigate their daily living issues and enjoy a brighter holiday than they had anticipated due to COVID challenges.
2. Philanthropy funds (up to $1500) are awarded in June. Some of our past recipients include: Alliance of Chinese Americans San Diego (ACA), The Elizabeth Hospice, Friends of READ San Diego Literacy Program, House of China, Just in Time for Foster Youth, Olivewood Gardens (ICF Ctr for Cross Border Philanthropy), Pacific Arts Movement, Social Advocates for Youth SD (SAY SD), and Storytellers of San Diego.
Agencies and organizations desiring to apply for an SDCWA philanthropy award are required to fill out an application and submit by the deadline, March 31, 2021. To apply, download and complete the application form (PDF or Word) and email to: email@example.com as an attachment, or if submitting by US mail, the application must be postmarked no later than March 31, 2021.
The total number and dollar amount of philanthropy awards granted will be determined by the availability of funding and the number of applicants.
